April is the cruelest month

Posted On April 1st, 2012

I am so happy to live in a country that has a National Poetry Month, even though it means that everyone lives virtually poetry-free lives for the other 11 months out of the year. For the past dozen years, I have made almost a quarter of my annual income from gigs performed in April alone. My record was 17 paying gigs all over the country; I think that was 2005. This year, because I have a new book that JUST came out on March 29th, I will be especially busy.

  1. You seem really busy this month, Today as I was in class my teacher introduced us to your writing she showed us your new book that just came out as you have said in your blog post. I became so attached to all your words as I am a poet myself. I got the courage to ask if I could borrow the book even though she just received it. she handed it to me and said keep it. Nothing made me ever so happy then to see and read the words of another poet that is so passionate about what he has written. I hope to one day make it to one of your gigs in hoping that for real I can hear you speak the poems you have made that is making an influence on the world today. Not only teachers but students such as myself as well.
