Despite having slept most of the first day I got here, I managed to sleep the night through and awoke at 6 refreshed and ready to teach my first day, which is now complete. Today was middle school, and I started with 7th grade, which is the worst (so I love them). The school is big and well resourced, possessing a pool and a full-sized soccer field here in the middle of Dhaka. I’m going to try to play ultimate frisbee with some teachers on Tuesday (if my knee can handle it). Otherwise, I will content myself with swimming laps. So far, so good.

Metaphorically yours,
Taylor P.S. Sent from the road so forgive odd spellings & apparent curtness.I’m looking forward to Page Meets Stage at the Bowery Poetry Club this Wed (10/27) with Kevin Young & Scott Woods!
Kevin Young is a real star in the “academic” poetry world (as opposed to the “performance poetry” world) and Scott Woods is the president of Poetry Slam, Inc., the body that oversees all poetry slam related matters in the U.S.. Interestingly, they are both archivists in their own right. Young is the Curator of Literary Collections at the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library at Emory University, and Woods has been a librarian for years. More to the point, their poetry rocks! (And they’ve never met). If you can’t be there live at the Bowery Poetry Club (308 Bowery, between Houston & Bleecker, F train to Second Ave, or 6 train to Bleecker) in New York City to watch the show live at 8 pm on Wednesday, 10/27, you can always watch live online at www.bowerypoetryLIVE.com. Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz will be emceeing, and I’ll be live tweeting in the audience using the hash tag #PMS2010. Admission is $12 ($6 for students).
“How Falling in Love is like Owning a Dog” Broadside is now available for $12!
A beautifully formatted, hand-printed, autographed letterpress edition of my most popular love poem, which has been read at over 200 weddings. Suitable for framing. A great gift for the bride and groom (especially if they have a dog).
Off to do the Catamount Ropes Course with my niece and nephew on a gorgeous autumn day!
Hope I still have two kids with me when it’s over!
